Apuleius Metamorphoses: The Golden Ass (Loeb Classical Library, 44)
Published in Hardcover by Harvard Univ Pr (April, 1990)
Authors: Apuleius, J. Arthur Hanson, and Arthur Hanson
Average review score:

a prose classic
This early prose work by a North African writer, _The Golden Ass_, is a classic. The man is in the body of an ass. He experiences life as an ass would. He overheard conversations and witnesses deeds that a human stranger would not be allowed to witness. It's a brutal, funny, and memorable ride.

I would recommend this book, if you like bold, big adventures like Gulliver's Travels or Homer's Odyssey.

Art and Ritual in Golden-Age Spain
Published in Hardcover by Princeton Univ Pr (16 November, 1998)
Author: Susan Verdi Webster
Average review score:

Visions of Seville
The cover image (La Virgen de la Soledad) and the Macarena Madonna inside alone are worth the price of the book, but it's a fascinating account of a vibrant "performance art" (street processions). See also The Madonnas of Europe and, for another kind of devotional outreach, Gardens of Revelation.

Art of Money Getting: Or, Golden Rules for Making Money
Published in Paperback by Applewood Books (December, 1999)
Authors: Phineas T. Barnum and Phineas Taylor Barnum
Average review score:

This book could save you thousands of dollars
This review is written from a unique perspective.

You see, I was once conned into becoming involved in L Ron Hubbard's Scientology.

One of the still lucrative efforts of Scientology is called W.I.S.E. - "The World Institute of Scientology Enterprises". They sell Hubbard's voluminous "Management Technology" to doctors, dentists, chiropractors and veterinarians and the like. These folks then give a percentage of their income to WISE for the priviledge of using Hubbard's management technology.

Well... Instead of spending literally thousands and thousands of dollars on that scam... You should just purchase PT Barnum's book The Art of Money Getting...from Amazon.com, for the cost of this one book you will get a far more readable, succinct version, and as well, a far less expensive version that is an in-context version of some of the same materials used by Hubbard to run his scam, without proper attribution.

Having been extensively trained in Hubbard's gobble-de-goop, no one was as amazed to read this book after leaving the clutches of Hubbard's empire of lies that I was.. when I found that PT. Barnum's, Art of Money Getting is one of the major sources Hubbard used to create his Empire, and the basis of Hubbard's "Financial Management Policy"

So get it from the real "source".. PT Barnum himself, and save yourself and your company thousands of dollars.

Arthur Meets the President (Read Me a Story, Story Time Cassette)
Published in Audio Cassette by Golden Pr Audio (May, 1992)
Authors: Marc Tolon Brown and Golden Books

MY REVIEW OF ARTHUR MEETS THE PRESIDENT
I like this book because it is special. I am nervous sometimes just like Arthur in the story. It also makes me think about all the places that are in the book. I want to go to Washington, D.C. one day and meet the President. But I hope I don't have to give a speech. D.W. made me laugh at the end. It also made me think and I'm going to help other people. A good book.

Astral Projection, Ritual Magic, and Alchemy: Golden Dawn Material by S.L. MacGregor Mathers and Others ; Edited and Introduced by Francis King ; Additional Material by R.A. Gilbert
Published in Paperback by Inner Traditions Intl Ltd (March, 1989)
Authors: S. L. MacGregor Mathers, Frnacis King, Francis King, R. A. Gilbert, and Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn
Average review score:

A fine addition to your occult library
This book contains many RRAC (Second Order) manuscripts not included in Israel Regardie's books. It also includes material from the Cromlech Temple. Anyone who is studying the Golden Dawn system needs this volume to complete their collection. Note that much of it may be inpenetrable to those who have not passed the Veil of Paroketh, and it should not (in most cases) be used until the First Order material is fully absorbed and practiced. Some of it is also pure [junk], but I leave that to the wisdom of the beholder.

The Astrology of the Golden Dawn (Golden Dawn Studies Number 10)
Published in Paperback by Holmes Pub Group (February, 1996)
Authors: J. W. Brodie-Innes and Darcy Kuntz
Average review score:

A must have book on Horary Astrology!
This is definitely a must have book for any beginner in the study of Horary Astrology. It is composed of 5 original Golden Dawn(or well-known off-branch) manuscripts that explain a sometimes very diffucult idea in basically 5 different ways from once well-respected members of the GD over the years. By piecing together easy to understand theories from 5 different explanations, it makes Horary Astrology a not-so-complex task. There is very little editing by the editor, so it's left to you to figure it all out from the explanations and come up with a final conclusion and formula; no edited cheesy step-by-steps, etc like you see in most Astrology books you see today. The thinness of the book is kind of daunting, and extra material will be needed (Almanac, etc), but overall it is a must have and well worth the money.

Awopbopaloobop Alopbamboom: The Golden Age of Rock
Published in Paperback by Grove Press (04 November, 2001)
Author: Nik Cohn
Average review score:

Great insight from a young R&R critic
I just read a recent review of this book which was very negative. The critic didn't like the young Nik Cohn's opinions. Well, I am 60 years old and was there at the dawn of rock 'n roll and loved this book. I was pleasantly surprised that a 22 year old Brit back in 1968 could have captured the essence of the fifties music scene and also described in detail what happened soon thereafter. In fact, I agreed with most of his very descriptive analyses and even when I didn't, I understood his point of view. His knowledge on the topic and style of writing was superb.

The PERFECT book for teaching your toddler about animals!
Twenty years ago, I used this book to teach my two younger siblings the names and sounds of the farm animals. We read it until it fell apart! I recently purchased a new copy for my two children...and they love it, too! The illustrations are magnificent! Children will love to read this book again and again. A timeless classic!

A Baby Sister for Herry (Golden Book 'N' Tape)
Published in Hardcover by Golden Pr Audio (August, 1987)
Authors: Emily P. Kingsley and Richard Walz
Average review score:

Great for Adjusting
My father bought me this book when I was five years old on the day that my baby sister was born. I did not understand the little person who was taking all of the attention and with this book, Herry was having the same issues. I am now 21 and I wish I still had it. It will be something valuable to pass on to my children.
